Panelists Bios:
Clark Rector, Executive Vice President, Government Affairs American Advertising Federation
As Executive Vice President of Government Affairs, Clark Rector oversees and directs the lobbying efforts of the American Advertising Federation’s grassroots network of 35,000 advertising professionals in some 150 local advertising clubs and federations nationwide. Together, they have defeated ad tax proposals and other threats to advertising in Congress, nearly every state and numerous cities and counties. In his role as chief public policy advocate for the Federation, Rector meets with lawmakers and regulators to educate them about advertising and represent the industry’s position on important legislative and regulatory matters. He has testified for the AAF before the U.S. Senate and Federal Trade Commission, as well as numerous state legislatures and city governments.
Prior to joining the AAF in 1988, Rector spent two years on Capitol Hill as a legislative assistant for Congressman Tom Luken of Ohio. He also spent three years working in local television in Austin, Texas. Rector is a graduate of the University of Texas and received a Master of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa.
Brett Lindstrom, SVP Bridges Trust, Former Nebraska State Senator LD18
Brett serves as a Senior Vice President and Relationship Manager of Bridges Trust. In his role, he is responsible for managing client relationships, business development, and aligning family and business interests around wealth-building goals and strategies. Brett brings nearly two decades of wealth management experience, in addition to serving eight years as a state senator in the legislature of Nebraska. During his terms, he was the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Banking, Commerce and Insurance, Vice Chair of Revenue Committee, Vice Chair of Retirement Systems Committee, and Chairman of Tribal Relations. Brett is passionate about helping families impact their communities and the causes they are interested in to enhance our way of living for the next generation.
Brett is a University of Nebraska Lincoln graduate and Husker Football alumni. He enjoys supporting and watching Husker football, cooking, hunting and coaching his kids’ sporting activities.
Brett’s community involvement includes State Senator – 2014 – 2022, Nebraska State Fair Board, Board Member, The American Red Cross Omaha Council Bluffs Metro Chapter, Board Member, Essential Pregnancy Services, Board Member, Omaha Chamber of Commerce, Public Policy Committee, President Jeffrey Gold’s Advisory Council, University of Nebraska, Completely KIDS, Board Member.
Doug Mayer, Partner at Strategic Partners & media representative of the Association of National Advertisers
Doug Mayer is a highly skilled political strategist and veteran communicator with nearly 20 years of experience working in the political communications sector – including serving three successful Republican Governors. Doug uses his deep communications and media knowledge to advance his clients’ goals and has proven ability to apply campaign strategies and tactics to a diverse set of clients and problems, both political and corporate.
